Today’s exclusive is from the sublime, Nick Ferrio
Today’s exclusive song is a punchy slice of indie-rock and roll that comes courtesy of a sublime songwriter from Ontario
Peterborough, Ontario’s Nick Ferrio has departed from the folk and country sounds of his previous recordings. Adopting a power-pop, indie-rock and roll sound, his latest LP, Soothsayer, sees him wrapping his songwriting in a delicious fuzz.
Today’s exclusive song is the title track from Soothsayer. Of the track, Ferrio says: “Soothsayer is a song about getting my fortune read, getting sage advice from a close friend. It’s the first song I wrote for this album and it led me to decide to make rock and roll on my own terms. I think I was listening to a lot of Taxman and Helter Skelter by the Beatles around the time I wrote this.”
He’ been likened to Courtney Barnett, Joel Plaskett, Shadowy Men On A Shadowy Planet and Jenn Grant. We couldn’t agree more and think that fans of The New Pornographers and The Apples In Stereo will also love Soothsayer. But don’t just take our word for it, listen below and see what you think…
