‘The Dorothy Project’ is a unique crowdfunding campaign
Diagrams has begun a crowdfunding campaign to release a particle physics inspired collaboration with a 90 year old American poet
You’ll have seen many an artist canvassing for support for a crowdfunding campaign to self-release one of their records. However, none of these will have been like of the one currently underway by Diagrams’ Sam Genders.
The Dorothy Project is describe on the campaign page as: “a ground-breaking album collaboration between established electro-folk artist Diagrams and 90-year-old poet Dorothy Trogdon, fusing timeless wisdom with modern sounds in a cross-generational meeting of poetry and music. The campaign exists to fulfil the life-long dream of Diagrams (aka Sam Genders of Tunng, The Accidental & Throws fame) to set up a record label in order to self-release the next Diagrams album Dorothy out into the world, and we want YOU to get involved.”
With songs inspired by topics such as particle physics and the strange nature of physical reality (how difficult it is for us in our daily lives to truly picture that reality of atomic particles and the relatively vast spaces between them), it’s a project that demands interaction.
Genders and Trogdon have written a whole album’s worth of songs together and the crowdfunding campaign has been set-up in order to self-release Dorothy in Spring 2017. The campaign runs from 8 November until 8 December 2016 and you can show your support for Dorothy here.
