Fans are invited to recreate classic ‘Back To Black’ songs in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the album’s release
Today, fans have been given the opportunity to record versions of four of Amy Winehouse’s classic tracks – Back To Black, Just Friends, Rehab and Tears Dry – in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the late singer’s seminal 2006 album. Available through the official Amy Winehouse Vevo channel, each video features a link where fans can download the backing track, create their own version and submit it as part of a talent-finding competition.
Amy’s longtime collaborators and friends Mark Ronson and Salaam Remi produced the songs and are now patrons of the Amy Winehouse Foundation. They will be judging the entries and picking a winner who will have their performance recorded and filmed in a studio and premiered on the official Island Records YouTube channel.
Island Records and Vevo will be donating all funds from the campaign to the Amy Winehouse Foundation. Since her tragic passing in 2011, the charity, created in Amy’s name, aims to help vulnerable young people facing a variety of complex issues such as homelessness, drug and alcohol addiction, mental health conditions and unemployment.
Visit amywinehouse.com to download the backing tracks, watch the lyric videos, then film your version and upload it to YouTube. When it’s live, submit a link at the same website and complete the form to enter. The last day for entries is 31 January 2017.
