The French manufacturer declares the release of the pro-grade, 88-note hammer-action hybrid MIDI keyboard controller, with Analog Lab software synth
rench music software and hardware company Arturia have announced the availability of the KeyLab 88 — a professional-grade, 88-note hammer-action hybrid MIDI keyboard controller. The KeyLab 88 boasts road-ready aluminium and wood construction, 16 backlit pressure-sensitive pads, an LED screen, a hammer-action Fatar keybed with aftertouch, along with Arturia’s acclaimed Analog Lab software synthesizer solution and more. An attachable shelf extension with a rubber base, adds a work surface suited to accommodating a laptop or a lead synth. Meanwhile, music readers will appreciate an attachable music stand that works equally well as a tablet holder.
KeyLab 88 comes with Arturia’s Analog Lab, a software synthesizer solution with more than 6,000 presets by sound designers derived from Arturia’s award-winning range of Analog Classics. These include the TAE (True Analog Emulation) synthesis-powered Mini V (Minimoog monosynth emulation), Wurlitzer V and much more. It is preassigned to work with Analog Lab, out of the box, providing instant control over key sound parameters, such as filter cutoff, resonance, and adjusting envelopes.
The first 3,000 units shipped also come with two virtual instruments. Firstly, the Grand Piano Model D from fellow French developer UVI delivers the sought-after sound of the Steinway Model D concert grand piano which benefits from deep multi-sampling, precision mastering, and advanced scripting. Secondly, Pianoteq 5 Stage is a physical modelling-based virtual instrument that provides acoustic and electric piano recreations as well as chromatic instruments.
“I’m using Arturia’s new KeyLab 88 keyboard which allows precise access to all V Collection parameters and also my other plug-ins with its controllers,” commented Academy Award-winning film composer, Alexandre Desplat. “Integrating it into a virtual environment is easy while its design finish is elegant. The extension shelf is very well thought through, allowing you to easily position your laptop or music manuscripts for taking quick notes.”
Arturia KeyLab 88 is available at a recommended retail price of €699/$699 (approx. £475). Watch the product promotional video below and, for more detailed information, visit: www.arturia.com/products/hybrid-synths/keylab88
