World Wide Music Contest announces winning entries

Marissa Guzman from Detroit, USA: winner of the WWMC grand prize, including €10,000

WorldWideMusicContest.com (WWMC), a site made for unsigned musicians from across the globe, unveils the winners of its first songwriting competition

orldwidemusicontest.com (WWMC), the website dedicated to unsigned musicians from all over the world, has announced the winners of its first edition of the songwriting contest. The first prize of €10,000 went to Marissa Guzman from Detroit, USA with the song Time To Go. She also wins a year of unlimited membership to online audio mastering service LandR, an interview feature in online magazine NIJI, and a performance in a music showcase in New York City by The Big Apple Indie Music Series.

Over the past year musicians from all over the world have sent in their songs and compositions, amassing a total of over 1,300 pieces of music being entered. An initial selection was picked out by WWMC’s internal panel, where the top 100 compositions were identified and sent to an independent jury made up of six music industry professionals. The jury consisted of Henry Padovani (original guitarist in The Police and lead judge on the French X Factor), Steve Tannett (REM, The Police, Sting, Duran Duran, Black Sabbath), Adrian Berwick (previously President & CEO of BMG Ricordi and Managing Director of Polydor Records), Carlos Ituino (previously Managing Director of Universal Music Entertainment), Stefano Zappaterra (Marketing Director at Polygram) and Jay Durgan (Bryan Adams, Police, Sting, Sheryl Crow, Janet Jackson, Bon Jovi, Stevie Wonder, Michael Buble).

In addition to the first prize, awards were given to the top the songs of each genre defined within the contest as follows:

Pop
1st. Cameron Hill from Trindad and Tobago, with the song Stranger, wins €1,500
2nd. Alex Boye from Nigeria/UK, with the song Lemonade, wins €700
3rd. Friga from Belarus, with the song What Will Be With Us In The End Wins €350

Rock & Heavy
1st. Juan Camilo Borja from Colombia, with the song Como Si Fuera La Primera Vez wins €1,500
2nd. Booster from USA, with the song Bleed wins €700
3rd. Moscato from Australia, with the song Pendulum wins €350

Instrumental
1st. Yurie Nakahara from Japan, with the song Snowdrop, wins €1,500
2nd. Vasil from Bulgaria, with the song Speed Changes, wins €700
3rd. Lou Pecci with the song Tender Heart, wins €350

Urban & Hip Hop
1st. Lee & Mella from Burundi/Canada, with the song Hatuko Wamoja, wins €1,500
2nd. The Conquering Lion from UK, with the song New World Order, wins €700
3rd. T.Dot from USA, with the song The Warm Up, wins €350

Other
1st. Jojo Worthington from Canada, with the song Boo Radley, wins €1,500
2nd. Kristin Lagasse from Canada, with the song Rugged Heart, wins €700
3rd. Yush from Mexico, with the song There Is A Place, wins €350
