George Michael’s songwriting legacy tops this week’s chart recognising the songwriters behind the biggest hits on the Billboard Hot 100
George Michael was celebrated as not only a dynamic performer, but a gifted songwriter. His tragic passing on Christmas Day unsurprisingly sparked a surge in streaming and sales activity that led to several of his classic songs returning to the Billboard Hot 100. With either sole or half writing credit on them all, it seems almost poetic justice that he would posthumously claim the top spot on this week’s chart recognising the top songwriters of the week, in memory and appreciation of a far larger body of work over the years.
