Songwriter and producer Max Martin will be given the prestigious Clive Davis Legend In Songwriting Award at next month’s ceremony

September’s annual Songs Of Hope event will honour Max Martin’s extraordinary and unique career, which has seen him work with the likes of Taylor Swift, West Life, Kelly Clarkson, Céline Dion and Usher. Martin will receive the Clive Davis Legend In Songwriting Award at the event.

The super-producer made a name for himself during the 1990s thanks to hits like the Backstreet Boys’I Want It That Way and Britney Spears’ …Baby One More Time. Martin is the songwriter with the third most No 1 singles, behind Paul McCartney and John Lennon.

Already highly decorated, Martin has won the ASCAP Songwriter Of The Year Awards 10 times, including the last seven years consecutively, more than any other songwriter. The man himself, Clive Davis, will present Martin with the award.

The event in Sherman Oaks, California attracts the music industry’s top stars, as they come together to celebrate the careers of the best talent. Last year Pharrell Williams was awarded the accolade, with past winners including Burt Bacharach, The Doobie Brothers, Stevie Wonder and Charlie XCX.

Nah, there’s no politics involved in such “awards”, and that crud by Britney Spears is a quality song? For real? No wonder we live in an age where non talented crap gets marketed while quality, capable songwriters who may not be blond with big breasts are shunted aside. If that’s the “quality” of material this guy has been “writing” – i.e., coming of the factory blender line for the last 20+ years, I’ll pass.
