Muse: droning on

The trio have premiered their new single ‘Mercy’, taken from the upcoming album ‘Drones’, which will be released in June

use have released a new single Mercy from their upcoming album Drones. The track comes after Psycho and Dead Inside and follows on from the narrative of the previous tracks. Frontman Matt Bellamy has described Drones, the trio’s seventh studio album, as an exploration of the “journey of a human from their abandonment and loss of hope, to their indoctrination by the system to be a human drone, to their eventual defection.”

“The opening line of Mercy – ‘Help me I’ve fallen on the inside’ – is a reference to the protagonist knowing and recognising that they have lost something, they have lost themselves,” says frontman Matt Bellamy in the press release “This is where he realises that he is being overcome by the dark forces that were introduced to him in Psycho.”

You can hear Mercy below. Drones will be released on 8 June.
