Bristol Pride and Songwriting Magazine have teamed up to bring you the chance of a fantastic prize

This Wednesday sees Songwriting Magazine and Bristol Pride unite to offer songwriters the chance to play at Bristol Pride Festival

here’s less than 48 hours to go until Songwriting and Bristol Pride’s competition to win a performance slot at this year’s Bristol Pride Festival kicks off, and we couldn’t be more excited about seeing just how the battle will pan out. Four excellent artists have been confirmed for Wednesday’s round at Bristol Bierkeller, and we give you a run-down below of the talented quartet that will be battling it out against each other.

This Human Condition are a Bristol duo who’ve been making music together since meeting in a songwriting circle three years ago. Drawing on an eclectic mix of synth-pop, trip-hop and house, the pair are as smooth as John Grant, as edgy as FKA twigs and as addictive as Boy George.

The charismatic Simon Cooper brings with him a blend of rock, soul and pop that’s made to purr by his gifted backing band. Elements of Elton John and Rufus Wainwright collide to give songs that are emotive and effortlessly catchy.

Precocious Bristol rapper Sazzey has been writing for as long as she can remember, and it’s this experience that took her all the way to the final of a national competition for Open Mic UK. With seductive beats and cutting rhymes, she’s a writer who’ll leave a lasting impression.

Finally there’s the youthful Josh Dyer. With a voice that’s disarmingly aged and a style that’s one part delicate finger-picking folk, another broken blues, you’ll be hard pressed to keep a dry eye during his engaging performance.

Doors open at 19:00 and we hope you can make it along and catch a potential star in the making.
