The line-up for this year’s Loud Women Fest has been released

Details of this year’s one-day festival have been released and it is set to be even more successful than 2016

Loud Women Fest is a one-day festival organised by the not-for-profit initiative Loud Women. Set up by Cassie Fox of The Wimmins’ Institute, the organisation actively supports putting women on stage.

The line-up for this year’s festival has been released. It will see 20 bands of mixed styles playing across two stages. Yorkshire grunge band Hands Off Gretel will perform for the first time. Norwich duo Sink Ya Teeth have been described as a collaboration between Donna Summer and Grandmaster Flash. While four-times UK beatboxing champion Grace Savage will also perform.

The festival is part of a rise in events put on to support female artists. One criticism of mainstream festivals is the lack of women being booked to play, with organisers giving too much space on the bill to all-male bands. But instead of waiting for organisers to act, many DIY events have been springing up.

DIY Space For London will play host to this year’s festival and early bird tickets on sale for £10. You can see the full line-up and further details here.
