It’s five years since the beloved indie-folk quintet released Helplessness Blues and fans will be delighted to hear they’re back
When Helplessness Blues was released to universal acclaim in 2011, fans of Fleet Foxes would’ve ill expected half a decade to have passed in near silence. Now, though, the news they’ve been waiting for has been revealed by guitarist Christian Wargo.
Speaking to DISTINCT, Wargo explained: “It’s not, like, ‘announced’ or anything, and none of us really knew it was coming, but it’s happening,” the guitarist continued, “Possibly unofficially at this stage, but it’s definitely a thing.”
Since the release of Helplessness Blues the band members have taken an eclectic approach to filling their hours. Lead singer Robin Pecknold enrolled at the University of Columbia to gain his undergraduate degree, former drummer J. Tillman has gained solo success as Father John Misty, while Wargo has worked as an illustrator and a woodworker.
Fleet Foxes’ self-titled debut album made it to No 3 in the UK album charts, with Helplessness Blues going one step better, while also making it to No 4 on the US Billboard 200.
