Pop-punkers will release their first single to feature Alkaline Trio frontman Matt Skiba this April, with an album to follow
When Tom Delonge left in acrimony last year fans feared that it spelled the end for Blink 182. However Alkaline Trio frontman Matt Skiba answered the band’s touring SOS and accompanied Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker for a number of performances. Now Blink 182 have announced their first material featuring Skiba will be released this April.
A spokesman for Blink 182 told Entertainment Weekly that the band will release a single next month, but did not confirm the title of the record. The news follows Travis Barker’s announcement that Blink 182 are in the process of trimming their new album from nearly thirty tracks. The album is expected to be released later this year. To date the band have sold over 12 million albums in the US alone, with more than 35 million sold worldwide.
Blink 182 Mk. 2 is expected to see Mark Hoppus taking the majority of the vocal duties, with Skiba largely contributing backing vocals.
