Gibson teams up with Cheap Trick’s Rick Nielsen
The latest limited edition Custom 1959 Les Paul model is a precise replica of Nielsen’s favourite stage and studio guitar
Gibson Custom has joined forces with Cheap Trick guitarist Rick Nielsen to announce the limited release of the Rick Nielsen 1959 Les Paul Standard – a replica of the ‘Burst that has been his favourite stage and studio guitar since he acquired it over a quarter of a century ago. The new Gibson Custom model precisely replicates the original at a level of detail so fine that when put side-by-side Nielsen declared it, “remarkable.”
Offered to True Historic Specifications, the Rick Nielsen 1959 Les Paul Standard is offered in two finish options – ‘aged’ and ‘vintage gloss’. The neck consists of double-carved, one-piece genuine mahogany and the fingerboard features one-piece, hand-rolled Indian rosewood with cellulose trapezoid inlays. The body pairs a two-piece maple top with a one-piece genuine mahogany back.
The Gibson Custom Rick Nielsen 1959 Les Paul’s price tag will start at $8,599 (approx. £6,084). The new model is available on a limited basis, with qualifying materials ultimately determining the size of the run. For more information, go to: gibson.com
