SME London has teamed up with BBC Introducing to create Amplify
Have you ever dreamed of working in the music industry? Then this new BBC event will offer some valuable insight
One of the world’s leading events companies, SME London, has teamed up with BBC Introducing to create Amplify. Taking place between 6 – 8 October at London Excel, the three-day event of seminars and workshops will celebrate 10 years of BBC Introducing. The brand of music programmes was set up to support emerging talent and has put the spotlight on acts such as Ray BLK, Florence And The Machine and The 1975.
There will be over 250 industry speakers discussing jobs within the music industry. And no doubt they will be offering advice on how to break through. There will be talks from heads of music, producers and commissioners. Plus, more than 100 sessions, including: how to write a hit record, grime is the new DIY, a guide to self-releasing your music, from bedroom to Ibiza and how to run a label.
It’s not only the big bosses who will be sharing their stories. Artists like The Libertines, Becky Hill, Ray BLK and MistaJam will be imparting their wisdom, too. But Amplify is not only designed for musicians and future careerists, it’s also for music fans in general.
“As anyone who has listened to my shows on Radio 1 or Radio 2 knows, I am passionate about giving up-and-coming musicians the chance to get heard and break into the mainstream, from a 19-year-old Adele doing her first performances, to seeing Coldplay taking their initial steps towards superstardom and the emergence of Biffy Clyro.” said Radio DJ Jo Whiley.
Continuing: “Amplify is going to give countless bands from around the country their chance to do this and make their music heard. I am so excited about being a part of it and discovering brand new talent at Amplify.”
