This year’s final headliner has been confirmed as the phenomenally successful Adele, with the songwriter to take the Saturday slot
Glastonbury 2016’s headline artists are Muse, Coldplay and…? Complete this sentence. Well now we can, after Adele was confirmed as the final headline artist for this year’s Glastonbury festival. Adele will be the Saturday headline act, with Muse headlining on Friday and Coldplay on Sunday.
The news was broken by the songwriter during her performance at London’s O2 last night (Friday 18 March), with Adele saying: “I wanted to do it last year but my record wasn’t ready. And to the people who say I am too boring to headline, you’re more fucking boring for moaning about me headlining.”
This comes after Adele previously suggested that a performance at Glastonbury was off the cards, as she said: “I think I have made myself pretty clear on Glastonbury. The crowds are too big – I don’t know if I could do it.”
Clearly, though, the pull of Glastonbury has been too big and it’s news that has delighted festival organiser Emily Eavis. Eavis tweeted: “What a great honour it is to have the wonderful Adele confirmed for this year’s Saturday night headline spot on the Pyramid Stage!”
Last November Adele released her third album 25. Despite having less than two months to catch its peers, 25 was the best selling album of 2015 in both the UK & US. To date 25 has sold more than 19 million copies worldwide.
Adele I want you to know I am a fan so please go out there and sing from your heart. I will be praying for you and Adele pray and ask God to meet you in the hour you need him the most.Love You, Evangelist Rosie Hawkins
