Lemmo: anthemic indie-rock from La La Land
A rockier edge to this week’s Thursday exclusive, as Songwriting proudly debuts the new single from LA alt-rock trio Lemmo
This week’s Thursday track exclusive here at Songwriting is the new single from Lemmo, a three-piece outfit based in sunny Los Angeles. It’s only the second track to be released from their debut EP The Marquis, which isn’t out till December… so definite bragging rights to be had further down the line if you get onto these guys now!
Frontman Michael Lemmo (vox/guitar) and Ben Borland have been playing together since they met as students at Berklee College of Music in 2009. After graduating, the pair relocated first to Philadelphia, then to LA, which is where they hooked up with third man, drummer Kenny Cash. Since then, they’ve been making a name for themselves on the Los Angeles live circuit, having played such legendary venues at the Whiskey-A-Go-Go and the Viper Rooms.
Of Alright, they tell us: “The song is just about an ongoing feeling of wanting to feel okay and stable. Searching for comfort within yourself. Not asking for it to be perfect or great, but just alright. Enough to get through it.”
The hype sheet for this one recommends it “for fans of” Ryan Adams, U2 or The Cure. If we had to describe it, then we’d say something like “imagine Ride channelling Heroes-era Bowie,” but as ever, you can make your own mind up…
Like that? Then check out Lemmo on Facebook and Twitter, or at their own website.
