More than 20 years in the making, “the world’s most advanced electric guitar” becomes available to musicians in the US
Launching to the public this month, the Fusion Guitar is the world’s first iPhone/iPod-integrated, portable, wireless electric guitar with built-in amp, battery and speakers. Created by Dave McAuld, the instrument is the culmination of 20 years of portable guitar development and more than 1,000 Fusion Guitars have been pre-sold through a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo.
The Fusion Guitar has a full-scale maple neck, with patented neck-thru-body construction, and the option of rosewood or maple fingerboard. The pick-ups consist of a hot-rail bridge humbucker – with parallel/series options via a switch – alongside a traditional neck humbucker pickup. iPhone integration provides access to tones, guitar effects and apps, with the instrument featuring a 24-bit/96kHz audio interface and a rechargeable battery with 4-6 hour battery life.
Sound output consists of a built-in 20 Watt class-D amplifier module with low noise (-90dB), two full-range HD speakers and higher frequency tweeter aimed towards the player. A patented floating speaker box allows the speaker to ‘float’ in the guitar body on rubber mounts, reducing the amount of vibration transmission between the guitar body and speaker.
“My life has been about music and my quest to create the ultimate electric guitar,” said Dave McAuld, Fusion Guitars. “We designed the Fusion Guitar to be the 21st century guitarists’ gateway to enjoyable musical expression anywhere and anytime. Combining the Fusion with iOS guitar apps unleashes amazing possibilities for learning, creating, performing and sharing music.”
The new Fusion Guitar is now available online for $1,399 (approx. £1,080) and is supplied with custom-designed padded gig bag. For more info, visit fusionguitars.com
