C. F. Martin & Co. introduces an acoustic-electric Retro, a watercoloured Cowboy, a limited edition Dreadnought and a Show Special
esterday C. F. Martin & Co. announced the notable new models to be presented at the 2015 Summer NAMM show in Nashville, on 9–11 July. The 182-year-old guitar manufacturer will unveil the 00-15E Retro and the LE-Cowboy-2015, alongside several other distinctive guitars. The addition of the 00-15E to the successful Retro Series is the first 00-14 fret instrument in the product family, and the LE-Cowboy-2015 features a design on the body of the guitar by famed watercolourist William Matthews.
The 00-15E Retro is the first 00-14 fret instrument in the successful Retro Series product family. This acoustic-electric, non-cutaway model features a solid mahogany top, back and sides and the top is finished with a visually distinctive 15-style burst. Equipped with SP Lifespan strings and Fishman F1 Aura+ electronics, the 00-15E Retro’s suggested retail price has been set at $2,549 (approx. £1,648).
Widely known for his watercolor portrayal of the working cowboys from the great ranches of the American West, William Matthews has created a design that will adorn the body of the LE-Cowboy-2015 – a 000-12 fret with a Sitka spruce top finished and Martin’s new Vintage Tone System (VTS). The top is inlaid with a multi-color rope design, and the back and sides are made of goncalo alves. This unique collector’s guitar will only be sold in 2015, with the recommended retail price at $3,999 (approx. £2,585).
A 14 fret, non-cutaway Dreadnought, the CS-D41-15 features a Sitka spruce top with Vintage Tone System (VTS). The East Indian rosewood back and sides showcase a ribbon inlay of cocobolo and flamed mahogany, matched with flamed mahogany binding. Limited to a quantity of 115, the manufacturer is suggesting the model retails for $8,999 (approx. £5,819).
The 2015 Summer NAMM Show Special has an Adirondack spruce top with VTS and finished with a cinnamon teardrop burst. The SS-0041-15 has Guatemalan rosewood back and sides, featuring various unique inlay designs: an alternate torch on the headstock and a tree-of-life on the fingerboard, both inlaid in a select abalone pearl. Equipped with Fishman Aura VT electronics, this limited edition guitar will have a suggested retail price of $10,999 (approx. £7,111).
