Eighth version of the tab editing and music notation software for guitarists, provides additional sound, work-flow, effect and interface enhancements

Maestro Music Software, Inc. has announced the release of MagicScore Guitar 8, an updated version of the tab editing and music notation software for the Windows operating system. With this latest iteration, the developers have added more than 10 new features specifically for guitarists, including three glissando types, customisable bends, hammer-on and pull-off effects.

MagicScore Guitar’s existing functions allow for the sharing of tabs and notes, training tools for practice and to help beginners learn how to play the guitar. Other features consist of automatic synchronisation, the ability to insert guitar frames into your compositions, edit and print tabs along with their corresponding notes and the entire composition with instrumental parts. Editing interfaces include Piano Roll, Velocity, Tempo, and MIDI Events editors, plus a free built-in plugin, Maestro Online, can post live tabs and notes directly onto a web page.

External notes and tabs can be imported from gp4, MusicXML, MIDI and KAR formats, plus audio track embedding allows importing and embedding audio from MP3 and WAV files. Results are saved natively in a proprietary SFD format, which is cross-compatible between all Maestro products. In addition, music documents can be exported into a range of file types, including PDF, TIFF, JPG, PNG, GIF, WMF and EMF. Playable music can be saved into MP3, WAV, MIDI, KAR, and MusicXML audio formats.

As well as creating tablature and music notations for a single guitar, it’s possible with an entire band using the same tool to lay out scores for drums, keyboards, strings, winds and other instruments. The accompanying GuitarTab Maestro is equipped with an interactive help system, which teaches effective techniques for common activities and explains how to use the advanced features.

MagicScore Guitar is available for the Windows operating system, currently supporting 32-bit and 64-bit editions of Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 and 8. The full version is priced at $49.95 (approx. £33) with a free demo version available. For more details and to download, visit musicaleditor.com
