With Bristol Pride Day only seven days away, we give you a run down on just what can be expected
ristol Pride Day is just round the corner and that means one of the most hotly anticipated days in the southwest calendar is nearly upon us. Having been voted the UK’s No 2 ‘Best Pride’, the organisers have vowed to make this the best and greenest pride yet and have a whole host of musicians to keep you entertained throughout the day.
M People lead singer and noted solo artist Heather Small heads the Main stage, and with 11 UK Top 10 singles and a Mercury Music Prize to her name she provides real star quality. There’s also Tina Cousins, who reached No 2 in the UK with the massive single Mysterious Times, Irish Eurovision singer/songwriter Ryan Dolan and a whole host more. One artist we’re particularly excited about is local rapper Sazzey, whose knockout performance at the Bristol Pride and Songwriting Battle Of The Bands saw her crowned as the competition winner. Next Saturday, she’ll be taking her well-deserved place on the main stage.
If that wasn’t enough for you there’s also a Cabaret stage, an eclectic mix of DJs at The Kiki Performance and DJ Hub, and Pride Parade, which kicks the day off. Having made clear their intention to be the greenest pride yet, Bristol Pride Day is also a showcase for local conservation activities and improved recycling, with plans to go generator-free throughout the day. You can find out even more about Bristol Pride Day at the Bristol Pride Festival website.
So put 11 July in your diary and make sure you don’t miss a fantastic day! In the meantime, here are some pictures from the aforesaid Battle of the Bands competition which took place at Bristol Bierkeller on Wednesday 20 May, with the prize an afternoon slot on the main stage at Pride…
