We round-up the last week in music, including news you might’ve missed, our SongsOfTheWeek playlist and Classic Of The Week
Dear readers, it’s for the third week in a row that we return to you in great sadness. Shortly before 10:00 p.m last night (3 June) the UK was subjected to a murderous attack, with London targetted by vicious terrorists.
Details continue to emerge, but what we know for certain is that 7 people have been murdered and at least 48 injured people have been taken to hospitals, after an assault on London Bridge and Borough Market. 21 of the people taken to hospital remain in a critical condition.
Like you, we’re still in shock and have been numbed by the events of last night. Our thoughts and hearts are with the friends, families and loved ones of each and every person to have been affected by this despicable attack.
We stand together with our London friends and echo the words of the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan: “This is our city. We will never let these cowards win and we will never be cowed by terrorism.”
Classic Of The Week
‘Lithium’ by Nirvana (1991)
This week’s classic is a song that each and every one of you should already know, though, perhaps not as obsessively as this writer. Taken from the Jacko smashing, genre establishing (publicly) and legend making Nevermind, Lithium is one of the tracks of the 90s’ and a rite of passage for anyone with an interest in alternative guitar pop.
