British alt-rock quintet have confirmed that they will play their biggest ever show this coming July at Newcastle’s Times Square

It’s been a celebratory last few months for alt-rock quintet Maxïmo Park. Last year they marked the 10th anniversary of their debut album A Certain Trigger with two gigs at London’s Roundhouse and now they’ve confirmed they’ll play their biggest ever gig on 31 July at Times Square, in their hometown of Newcastle.

Singer Paul Smith had this to say of the gig: “It’s been a dream of ours to headline a big outdoor gig in the heart of Newcastle city centre and now, after celebrating our 10th anniversary last year, we get to fulfil that ambition at the height of summer, on home turf.”

Continuing: “I hope there will be a celebratory atmosphere in Times Square because there are some excellent bands on the bill and we intend to put on a great show.”

Maxïmo Park will be joined on 31 July by Wam Digits, Fear of Men, Lush, Public Service Broadcasting and Teleman.

Maxïmo Park released their last album, Too Much Information, in 2014. The album reached No 2 in the UK albums chart, making it their third album to reach the Top 10 in the UK.
