Bristol group will be joined by Primal Scream and Skepta among a host of other artists on Bristol’s Clifton Downs

Bristolian trip-hop legends Massive Attack have delighted their hometown fans, after confirming they are to return for their first gig in Bristol since they performed at Queen’s Square in August 2003.

The event will take place on 3 September at Clifton Downs – situated just outside of the city centre – and has been timed to mark the 25th anniversary of the band’s classic Blue Lines album. The all-day bash is being curated by Massive Attack themselves, with the group so far having confirmed Primal Scream and Skepta for the bill. More names will be announced in due course.

Announcing the gig, founding Massive Attack member Robert Del Naja – aka 3D – said: “We are curating what we hope will become an annual event – something made in Bristol with an international reach. We will also use the project to engage with the important social and political issues of the day.”

Tickets for the event cost £37.50 and go on sale this Friday (20 May), via the usual outlets. A number of £25 tickets for people on benefits will be available, but you’ll need to visit Bristol Ticket Shop in person to buy them.
