Josh Groban tops the UK album chart

Groban has claimed a literal first by landing his maiden UK Number One album

Josh Groban has claimed his first UK No 1 album, pushing last week’s chart topper Paul Simon into second place

ever Mind The Buzzcocks favourite Josh Groban has had a glittering career lasting nearly two decades. With global record sales of more than 25 million, and the honour of having been the best-selling artist in the United States, you’d think there were no firsts left for him. Well you’d be wrong. Groban has claimed a literal first by landing his maiden UK Number One album, with his Broadway covers record Stages sitting on top this week’s pile. Ninth was Groban’s previous high point in the UK albums chart, which he secured with his 2013 LP All That Echoes.

Last week’s No 1 Paul Simon finds himself bumped to No 2, while the Top 5 is completed by Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith and James Bay, with their albums X, In The Lonely Hour and Chaos And The Calm, at No 3, No 4 and No 5 respectively.
