The multi-talented, innovative artist picked up an award for her inspiring work at a ceremony celebrating the industry’s best producers
Imogen Heap received the Music Producers Guild Inspiration Award on Thursday night (March 1). The singer, songwriter, producer and audio engineer was honoured because of her consistent and inspirational contribution to music. Previous recipients of the award include Nile Rogers, Roni Size, Damon Albarn, and Sylvia Massy.
Heap’s innovative work reflects her drive to push music creation and technology to the limits. Her most notable work includes the development of high-tech musical gloves that act as an instrument and controller, and her partnership with the experimental distribution platform Mycelia.
Other winners on the night were Stormzy’s producer Manon Grandjean, Jane Third, and Abbey Road studios. But it was Catherine Marks who was the big winner, receiving the UK Producer Of The Year award.
