The up-and-coming singer-songwriter’s long-awaited debut is released along with a new music video raising awareness of domestic violence charity Refuge
Singer-songwriter Frances, major record label Universal Music UK and national charity Refuge have launched an initiative to let young women know they’re not alone and that support is available to victims of domestic violence, through an animated music video for the English performer’s new single Glow – a ballad written about supporting a friend.
Created with the help of Hollywood animation director Clay Kaytis (Frozen and The Angry Birds Movie), the video depicts a female character – based on a real Refuge client – going about her daily life; except that due to the abuse she is experiencing, she becomes visibly more isolated and alone. One day, she meets someone representing the charity, who recognises and understands what she is going through and supports her to escape the abuse and rebuild her life.
“I feel so honoured to be a part of this campaign for Refuge,” said Frances. “I want nothing more than to give something back with my music, and I hope that this incredibly important video which features my song, Grow, will resonate with people all over the world, and especially to women who are experiencing domestic violence and needing help as we speak.”
Named one of BBC Music’s Sounds Of 2016, nominated for the Critics Choice Award at the BRITs and Glamour’s Women of the Year 2017, singer-songwriter Frances was also introduced here on Songwriting last year.
The video came out today to accompany the single and follows the launch of her much-anticipated debut album Things I’ve Never Said, which was released via Cookie Records/Universal Music UK last week. Find out more at francesmusic.com
