Legendary country music songwriter will embark on her most extensive North American tour for more than twenty years this June

A month after it was revealed that Dolly Parton would be heading out on her first large scale North American tour in a quarter of a century, the country music legend has confirmed the first set of dates she’ll be playing.

Parton begins her tour on 3 June at Greensboro, N.C. at the Greensboro Coliseum. She will then play a further 13 shows in just over three weeks, with her final performance coming at Pittsburgh’s Consol Energy Center on 28 June. More dates are expected to be revealed soon.

Speaking to Rolling Stone Country about the tour, Parton said: “The tour itself is called Pure And Simple, mainly because it’s scaled down. There’s only four of us on stage. We play different instruments, we sing and we do all those songs that people know, but they’re just not as big — we don’t have a lot of effects on stage or any of that.”

Parton’s tour comes in support of her new double album entitled Pure & Simple With Dolly’s Biggest Hits. Though a tracklisting has yet to be confirmed, the record will feature new songs by Parton alongside some of her classic tracks. Dolly Parton has released 43 studio albums to date, with her first , Hello, I’m Dolly, released in February 1967.
