Dolly Parton to tour North America this summer

Country music legend will embark on her first major tour of the U.S. and Canada in more than 25 years

Well if you’re not excited then we at Songwriting certainly are, after Dolly Parton announced the news that her North American fans have been waiting to hear for over a quarter of a decade by confirming that she’ll tour the U.S. and Canada this summer.

For the past two decades Parton has played only select dates in North America. However this summer she will play more than 60 cities across North America in support of her new album, Pure & Simple With Dolly’s Biggest Hits. The dates from the tour will be made public shortly.

Speaking of the announcement Parton said: “We’re so excited to get out there and see the fans again. I’m really looking forward to singing songs the fans have not heard in a while, as well as the hits, while debuting a few new ones off Pure & Simple.”

Pure & Simple With Dolly’s Biggest Hits is yet to have a tracklisting revealed. However it will include both brand new material from the Country Music Hall of Famer, as well as a selection of her biggest hits.

The news on Parton’s upcoming tour and album marks a great last few months for the songwriter’s fans, after she released her enormously successful TV movie Dolly Parton’s Coat Of Many Colors last December. The film attracted nearly 16 million viewers, but that falls short of Parton’s all-inclusive sales of singles, albums, hits collections, and digital downloads during her career, which exceeds 100 million worldwide.
