Much-loved French duo make it to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 for the first time in their career

In a 23 year career that has been littered with success, the much-loved French electronic duo Daft Punk have this week scored a first, after they claimed their maiden US No 1 single with their song Starboy.

Featuring The Weeknd, Starboy replaces Rae Sremmurd’s Black Beatles at the top of the Billboard Hot 100. Daft Punk’s only previous single to make it into the US Top 40 was 2013s’ Get Lucky, which featured Pharrell Williams and made it to No 2. Get Lucky made it to No 1 on the UK Singles Chart.

Starboy has also given The Weeknd his third US No 1 single, capping off a hugely successful year for the songwriter. The Weeknd’s previous two chart-toppers were Can’t Feel My Face and The Hills
