This week’s Thursday exclusive comes once more in video form, as Songwriting takes a rare trip into trad jazz pastures

nother video exclusive for you this week, and it’s an abrupt change of pace as New York’s The Ladybugs serve up some trad-style vocal jazz… Yankees they may be but the Dixieland force is definitely strong in these ones! Tonight You Belong To Me is taken from their debut album, which is out next month.

Headed up by Martina Da Silva and award-winning multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Kate Davis, the rest of the band comprise Joe McDonough on vocals and ukelele, Gabe Schnider on trombone and Dylan Shamat on bass. The band are regulars on the US jazz festival circuit, playing a mixture of original material and classics from the 20s to the 40s with a blues and country twist.

Martina says of the video: “”We filmed this song at my apartment last month. I wanted to have a different look for this video, something more informal, and to also show people how much fun we have have playing together. We dressed in all white because I thought it’d be dreamy!”
