For this week’s Monday exclusive, we bring you a sneak preview of Surrender, a track taken from Californian singer-songwriter RIVVRS’ debut album Unfamiliar Skin, which is out on 25 March.
Currently based in Los Angeles, RIVVRS grew up in the Bay Area. His last EP Hold On has been streamed over a million times, and tracks have been licensed to TV shows on MTV, NBC and Fox. To promote the new album, he’ll be embarking on a co-headlining California tour with Distant Cousins.
Of Surrender itself, he tells us: “Surrender is the constant reminder I need to tell myself, stop trying so hard. Sometimes you just need to let things take shape naturally in life, even when all you want to do is gain some control. Especially when it comes to love, it’s not always easy to let go. But once you surrender yourself to something higher, things become a lot easier.”
The hype sheet recommends this one “for fans of” Ed Sheeran, Ray Lamontagne or Vance Joy; we might add Passenger to that list, but as ever, you can see what you think for yourselves…
