Connecting Stars will be touring the US in June and July

For this week’s Thursday exclusive, Songwriting is delighted to premiere the new video from South African acoustic duo Connecting Stars

hursdays are all about the exclusives here at Songwriting, and we have another video premiere for you this week, as Durban two-piece Connecting Stars unveil the promo film for their song Pink Blossoms, in preparation for a US tour which will be taking place in June and July.

Connecting Stars are the husband-and-wife duo of Martin and Cheryl Engel. They’ve been playing together for over a decade, but only started the Connecting Stars project two years ago. Since then they’ve released their self-titled debut album in August 2014, and seen their single Stuck climb to No 30 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart in the US. They’re also involved in various charity initiatives in their native South Africa.

Of the Pink Blossoms clip, they tell us: “We’re so excited to be launching our new music video in partnership with Songwriting magazine. The video portrays a couple deeply in love, reminiscing about a childhood friend lost too young. The song has such a personal, heartbreaking meaning to us and we are grateful that we managed to capture the essence of the song in the production. We had an awesome time filming it at Makaranga Lodge in South Africa with our beautiful daughter, Grace, and our fantastic production team.”

The hype sheet for this one says “recommended if you like The Cranberries, The Lumineers or The Civil Wars,” and we’d say that’s about right. But as we always say: check it out and make your own mind up!

If you like that, you can find out more about Connecting Stars on Facebook, via Twitter or at their own website.
