Today’s exclusive comes from a brilliant, Glaswegian-born songwriter who you’ll already be familiar with – whether you know it or not
Sometimes you come across an artist that you may know, but whose work is already familiar to you. This is certainly true of the brilliant, Glaswegian-born songwriter McGoozer. Though he’s just about to release his debut solo album, Songs From The Mirror, he comes from a famous family and is the voice behind one of the most ubiquitous adverts ever.
McGoozer’s older brothers are Simple Minds founding member Brian McGee, and Owen Paul, whose song You’re My Favourite Waste Of Time made it to No 3 on the UK singles chart in 1986. And that advert? McGoozer is the voice behind the McDonald’s I’m Lovin It TV ads.
He’s kindly given us exclusive access to his brilliant song, Easy To Love You. Of the song, McGoozer says: “Sometimes you have to work hard on relationships and other times things just come really easily from the start. Like you just fit together. I expect we’ve all experienced both sides. This song is about finding that person you feel like you’ve known your whole life and grabbing onto them. I’m very lucky to have found mine.”
Adding: “I’m also very hery honoured to have the chance to co-write with the legendary Boo Hewerdine on this. I’ve been a huge fan of his for many years and learned so much from him in the writing process.”
He’s been likened to The Script, Keane, Crowded House, Train, Maroon 5, The Goo Goo Dolls, Paul McCartney, Jason Mraz, and Don Henley. We couldn’t agree more and think that fans of Powederfinger and Del Amitri will also enjoy Easy To Love You. But don’t take our word for it, listen below and see what you think…
Like that? Then find McGoozer on Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and Facebook, or at his own website.
