Our second exclusive of the week comes in the form of the new album from Washington, DC-based singer-songwriter Dan Lipton
Another exclusive for you here today at Songwriting, with a first listen to Breathing In, the new album from Dan Lipton, a singer-songwriter who hails from the nation’s capital and who describes his music as “somewhere in between Americana, folk and alt-country”.
Originally from DC, Dan recorded three albums with his old band Dreaming Isabelle while living in Charlottesville, Virginia before quitting to go solo in 2010. Since then he’s lived in Atlanta and Brooklyn before returning to Washington, with the bulk of Breathing In “tracked out in rented cabins from Maine to Virginia”.
Dan says of the album: “It’s a collection of songs that seeks meaning in the everyday experiences of urban living, drinking and getting older. I wanted to capture some measure of anticipation with no real resolution, which is why it’s called Breathing In.”
If you’re a fan of fingerpicked guitar and literate vocals, we think you’re going to enjoy this…
