Another bonus exclusive for you this Monday evening, as Songwriting proudly debuts the brand new video from folk-pop siblings Pageant

Pageant Beautiful sleeveTonight, Songwriting is delighted to bring you another bonus exclusive with a first look at the video for Beautiful (Caught Up In The Moment) by Nashville folk-pop outfit Pageant. Beautiful (etc) is the first single to be taken from Pageant’s forthcoming EP, Endless Sun, which is out on 13 November, and the video stars Casey Whitaker and Tim de la Motte, who are known for their work with Chicago improv collective Second City.

Siblings Derek and Erika Porter form the backbone of Pageant, with Stephen Allbritten and Nick Frampton completing the line-up. The four-piece describe their sound as “a compelling blend of stomping guitar rock, piano-based indie pop, classic country and 50s girl group pop,” with all of their music recorded at their own Best Friend Studio in Nashville.

Of Beautiful (Caught Up In The Moment) itself, Derek Porter says: “I wrote the song after ending a relationship and reflecting on what I wanted from a partner. Many people who hear the song think it’s about this ideal love I was experiencing, but truthfully it’s about what I wished I could have experienced. I considered what I’d learned in the past and how I wanted to apply that to my future. The second verse epitomises that. So to me the song is very melancholy, although I can see how it could be taken the other way. I enjoy that dual perception.”
