Martin Dreadnought Junior: “a new body size with the same renowned Martin tone and premier quality”

C.F. Martin & Co. celebrates 100 years of the Martin Dreadnought with a new 24-inch scale solid wood acoustic guitar

Originally debuted at the 2015 NAMM Show, C.F. Martin & Co. has now announced availability of the Dreadnought Junior. The solid wood acoustic guitar is reduced to approximately 15/16-inches of the full Martin 14-fret Dreadnought dimension, with an 24-inch scale length.

A solid Sitka spruce top features scalloped 1/4-inch X-bracing with a single asymmetrical tone bar, whereas the back and sides are bookmatched from sapele. and Richlite – an ebony alternative with similar hardness and appearance – is chosen for the fingerboard and bridge.

“This year we proudly celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the iconic Martin Dreadnought (1916-2016), a model that has played a huge role in shaping American music and is one of the most replicated body sizes in the world,” said CEO and Chairman Chris Martin IV. “It is not often we introduce a new body size, so we are very proud to continue to add to the Martin Dreadnought legacy with the introduction of the Dreadnought Junior, which offers to guitar enthusiasts worldwide a new body size with the same renowned Martin tone and premier quality people have come to expect from Martin Guitar.”

The Dreadnought Junior (AKA ‘D Jr’), available at a list price of $799 (approx. £550), comes factory-equipped with Fishman’s Sonitone sound reinforcement system and includes a nylon gig bag. For more details, visit: martinguitar.com
