Richie Sambora and Orianthi: this year will mark the duo’s first NAMM performance together as RSO
NAMM 2017 hosts rock duo Richie Sambora & Orianthi, plus Ronnie Spector & The Ronettes celebrate Lennon Bus’ 20th anniversary
This month sees the annual Winter NAMM Show return to the Anaheim Convention Center, and with it, the likes of Richie Sambora & Orianthi are scheduled to rock the event’s Grand Plaza stage. In addition, the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus – which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year – will host the Imagine Party during NAMM, featuring headliner Ronnie Spector & The Ronettes.
Rock duo RSO, consisting of Richie Sambora & Orianthi, will be kicking off the show on the night of Thursday 19 January. Each a respected guitarist in their own right, the pair have spent the past year touring the globe and will perform at The NAMM Show for the first time together. Sambora is best known as the lead guitarist and songwriter of the rock band Bon Jovi for 30 years. Platinum-selling guitarist Orianthi has enjoyed a career as a touring artist for the likes of Michael Jackson and Alice Cooper, and was named by Elle magazine as one of the top ’12 Greatest Female Electric Guitarists’.
On Saturday 21 January, The John Lennon Educational Tour Bus celebrates its 20th Anniversary with The John Lennon Imagine Party featuring Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees, Ronnie Spector & The Ronettes. Spector is best known for a string of classic ‘girl group’ anthems such as Baby I Love You, Walking In The Rain and Be My Baby. She and John Lennon met in London during the Ronettes’ first UK tour and the group was chosen by The Beatles to open their final tour in 1966.
The Lennon Bus, inspired by John Lennon and made possible by Yoko Ono Lennon, is a non-profit mobile recording studio that provides students with free, hands-on opportunities to make music and produce video projects – a concept that began as an offshoot of the John Lennon Songwriting Contest. The vehicle will be parked at the Grand Plaza, opposite the stage where the Imagine Party will also be held.
The 2017 Winter NAMM Show takes place at the Anaheim Convention Center in California, USA on 19-22 January. To find out more about attending, go to: namm.org
