The Who will headline Saturday night at this year’s Isle Of Wight Festival
Ex-Verve man Richard Ashcroft will be their ‘special guest’ at the festival, which this year takes place on 9-12 June
This morning saw the announcement that The Who are to headline the Saturday night at this year’s Isle Of Wight festival. It’s a festival that Daltrey and co have a long history with, having played in 1969 and 1970, and made a triumphant return there in 2004 – making them a fitting headline choice for the festival’s 50th Anniversary year.
Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend – the only surviving members of the original line-up – will be joined onstage by Zac Starkey, Simon Townshend and Pino Palladino, as well as a special guest – former Verve frontman Richard Ashcroft, who’ll be performing tracks from his new solo album These People.
Other highlights of this year’s Isle Of Wight bill include headliners Queen & Adam Lambert, Stereophonics and Faithless, not to mention Iggy Pop, Adam Ant, Status Quo, Gabrielle Aplin, The Damned, The Cribs, Buzzcocks, The Kills, The Wonder Stuff and Everything Everything.
Weekend tickets are still available, priced £195. For full details, see the festival website. You can see highlights from The Who’s 2004 IoW set below.
