The Maccabees are breaking-up
Hugely successful UK indie quintet have announced that they will be calling it a day after a 14 year career
Much loved UK indie band The Maccabees have announced the news that fans hoped would never come, after confirming that they are to split-up following a career which has spanned two decades.
Revealing the news via a statement on Twitter, the band said that they were: “very proud to be able to go out on our own terms.” They explained that it had not been an easy choice to make, saying: “The decision has obviously been an incredibly difficult one, given that The Maccabees has been such a huge part of our lives until now.” The band promised that they will play some “farewell celebration shows” soon.
The Maccabees formed in London in 2004 and have released four albums, with each record achieving a higher position in the UK Albums Chart that it’s predecessor and their last album, 2015s’ Marks To Prove It, making it to No 1 in the UK.
