New songwriting competition show coming to NBC

Maroon 5 frontman and ‘The Voice’ coach, Adam Levine will co-produce ‘Songland’, a TV show devoted to discovering talented songwriters

ccording to Entertainment Weekly, NBC has ordered a competition series pilot from The Voice coach Adam Levine and executive producer Audrey Morrissey about the search for the next great original song. The news was confirmed on the website of Levine’s band Maroon 5, stating: “Pretty awesome news. Adam Levine to produce a songwriting competition show on NBC called ‪Songland.”

Songland will feature amateur songwriters with original compositions, which they pitch to music industry judges that include hit producers and singers. The pilot is produced by Morrissey’s company Live Animals in association with Levine’s 222 Productions and Dave Stewart Entertainment – the Eurythmics songwriter Dave Stewart will be one of the executive producers.

A release date for the show hasn’t been confirmed as yet, but viewers in the US should keep an eye on listings on NBC’s website: www.nbc.com
