Noted folk-punk songwriter Frank Turner talks about battling his demons on a new film that will be released next month

Frank turner is to release a film that documents his battle with drinking, drugs and depression. The candid movie, filmed while the singer was on tour by friend and director Ben Morse, is entitled Get Better – A Film About Frank Turner.

The film features Turner and his band The Sleeping Souls during a year on the road. The tour was cut short due to an argument with his record label, one which subsequently saw the Recovery singer come off the rails.

Of the film Turner said: “A lot of it is to do with drinking and drugs and stuff like that – and my own capacity with self-destruction.”

Continuing: “I live quite a weird life, when I go to work there’s lots of people screaming at me.”

The documentary will be in UK cinemas for one night only on 13 December, with a special screening and live Q&A with Frank Turner at London’s Leicester Square. Tickets go on sale on 21 November.
