The band’s guitarist Stephen Carpenter confirms that the alt-metal quintet are to release their eighth studio album this coming spring
It was originally scheduled to be out last September and now fans will be pleased to hear that Deftones have set a release date for the follow-up to their 2012 album Koi No Yokan, after guitarist Stephen Carpenter announced that it will be available on 8 April 2016.
Speaking to a guitar convention this weekend, in Anaheim, California, Carpenter said: “[We’re] sitting around waiting for the release of our new record. It comes out April 8th. We have some dates in Texas in March, in May-June we’re off to Europe for some festivals out there. We’ll play for all the people who are interested and want to hear it.”
The as-yet-untitled record will be the band’s first album since their bass player Chi Cheng died in April 2013, after suffering a cardiac arrest. Cheng had been in a semi-comatose state since being involved in an automobile crash in 2008. Deftones’ 2006 album Saturday Night Wrist was the last album to feature him.
