‘The Institute Presents: Neurosociety’ sees the Talking Heads frontman David Byrne working in collaboration with the portfolio manager Mala Gaonkar

From this month you’ll get the chance to see one of the world’s finest songwriters tackling a different subject, after it was announced that a neuroscience art exhibition co-created by David Byrne is to open.

Opening on 28 October 2016 at Pace Gallery in Menlo Park, California and running until 31 May 2017, The Institute Presents: Neurosociety sees Byrne working in collaboration with the portfolio manager Mala Gaonkar to create “an immersive theatrical experience.”

The exhibition features material from 15 cognitive neuroscience labs and Byrne told The New York Times: “We won’t be running these experiments like the labs do, but recreating some of their work in more entertaining or theatrical ways.”

Continuing: “I think the labs will see there’s a way to collect data from this. Instead of a small pool of 50 students, you might get 1,000 people from different demographics.”

David Byrne was frontman for Talking Heads from 1975 until the band broke-up in 1991. In addition to releasing eight albums with Talking Heads, Byrne has also released nine solo albums.
