The Blur frontman reveals news which will please fans of both The Good, The Bad & The Queen and Gorillaz

Having been treated to a first Blur record in 12 years fans of Damon Albarn might think that the songwriter has decided that 2015 is the year he’ll do his best impression of Saint Nick, as he presents them with news of upcoming albums by both The Good, The Bad & The Queen and Gorillaz.

When asked about Gorillaz by British tabloid The Sun Albarn said: “I’ve also got a Good, The Bad and The Queen record. It will either be Gorillaz or that [that comes next] and then I might be allowed to go back into my own solo world or another musical.”

Speaking of the Gorillaz new record, he said: “I’m in the very early days on a new Gorillaz record. So far, it’s really fast, and it’s got quite a lot of energy. I’ve been stuck on piano, somewhere off Broadway, for years now. I want to go somewhere completely opposite of that.”

The Good, The Bad & The Queen is comprised of The Verve guitarist Simon Tong, drummer Tony Allen and The Clash bassist Paul Simonon. They released their self-titled debut album in January 2007. Gorillaz sees Albarn working with graphic artist Jamie Hewlett and the groups last album was 2011’s The Fall.
