Fresh from his special guest appearance with Coldplay at Glastonbury, the Bee Gee signs to Columbia and announces next record

Legendary Grammy award-winning songwriter, Barry Gibb has announced a new solo album titled, In The Now, is slated for release on Columbia Records this autumn. The surviving member of one of music’s most successful and revered bands, the Bee Gees, has kept the album a family affair, writing all the songs with his sons Stephen and Ashley.

Produced by Gibb, with co-producer John Merchant, In The Now is only the second solo effort of his career and his first album of all new material since the Bee Gees’ final studio album in 2001. The 12-track LP was recorded in Miami with the same gathering of musicians Gibb assembled for his 2014 solo tour.

Between Robin, Maurice, and Andy, the Gibb brothers achieved 19 No.1 records on the Billboard charts, which included the ‘six in a row’ equaling The Beatles record. Barry Gibb returned to live performing in 2013-2014 with the Mythology Tour, celebrating the Bee Gees anthology release of the same name, as a tribute to his three brothers.

On Sunday, Coldplay’s headline performance at Glastonbury Festival saw Gibb make a surprise appearance on stage to sing an acoustic version of To Love Somebody and then Stayin’ Alive.
