Breedlove starts a 50-year Journey
The Oregon-based manufacturer launches the Journey series of Brazilian rosewood acoustic guitars, with over 50 years of history behind them
Breedlove has announced it is building two limited edition models of 50 each, Breedlove Journey and Breedlove Journey FS – concert instruments designed with Brazilian rosewood that have more than half a century of natural aging. According to the manufacturer’s legal documentation, over 50 years ago a few Brazilian rosewood logs were shipped from NE Brazil to a village just outside of Madrid, Spain, and was stored in an open-air warehouse for two decades then sawn into tonewood sets, labeled and left to season for decades more, before giving Breedlove the “cream of the crop”.
Crafted in Bend, Oregon, USA, both models are 25.5-inch scale, finished in natural high gloss, the neck wood is Honduran mahogany with an ebony fretboard, a bone nut saddle and a LR Baggs Anthem TRU-Mic pickup. The Breedlove Journey Concert is designed with salvaged Sitka spruce top, whereas the Journey FS Concert features a graduated, salvaged redwood top, along with the Breedlove bridge truss system, asymmetrical headstock and a winged pinless bridge. The guitars all come with a deluxe hardshell case.
Breedlove’s Journey will become available at the manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $5,332 (approx. £3,600), with the Journey FS suggested to retail at $6,665 (approx. £4,500). To find out more, go to: breedlovemusic.com
