A Harrogate gallery will host an exhibition documenting the music, artwork and stories behind the Merseyside guitar band’s latest LP

Harrogate’s RedHouse Originals gallery has announced an exclusive exhibition titled The Coral: Distance Inbetween, documenting the music, artwork and stories behind the Merseyside indie band’s critically acclaimed album. The Coral enjoyed a renaissance with this year’s Distance Inbetween, which was the band’s first collection of new material since 2010.

Seasoned songwriters, multi-instrumentalists and producers, the band are also entirely responsible for The Coral’s artistic vision. Drummer and co-songwriter Ian Skelly has produced the artwork for the band’s album covers since their debut in 2002 and Distance Inbetween is no different, with psychedelic Victorian-inspired cut-and-paste collages presented alongside surreal comic book-style illustrations.

The one-off exhibition will feature new unseen artwork, alongside special edition prints created by Ian Skelly to document the songs and the stories behind the music. Also on display will be original artefacts and ephemera that inspired the creation of the album.

The Coral: Distance Inbetween exhibition opens to the public for two weeks only from 8-22 December, coinciding with the band’s UK tour from 8-17 December. More information about the exhibition can be found at redhouseoriginals.com and for more on the band, visit thecoral.co.uk
