The Songwriters Festival in Bath: A celebration of songwriting and local talent
We’re heading to the Bath Assembly Rooms on 16 March for a day of intimate live music and songwriting stories
We’re delighted to announce our association with The Songwriters Festival, taking place at The Assembly Rooms in Bath on 16 March. A celebration of songwriting and local talent, the day is going to be packed with incredible artists such as Robert Vincent, Michele Stodart (The Magic Numbers), Hannah White, Elles Bailey, Matt Owens (Noah And The Whale), Freddie & The Scenarios and many others.
Centred in the middle of the magnificent Octagon Room, encircled by the audience, the Main Stage will host three artists at a time, coming together to perform an intimate set. It’s a chance to see a live performance “in the round”. Perhaps more associated with Nashville venues like The Bluebird Café, the audience are invited into performances, collaborations and conversations in a laid-back and informal setting. It’s almost like watching your favourite musicians playing in your front room as they trade stories and share songs.
Almost as captivating as the array of talent on display is the venue itself. The Assembly Rooms, completed in 1771, is a stunning Grade 1 listed building that once hosted the likes of Jane Austen, Charles Dickens, and the painter Thomas Gainsborough.
Hosted by The 7 Hills, the passion project of singer-songwriter Matt Owens, the day will also be a showcase for local artists and young musicians, with a specific stage to highlight some the best young Bathonians starting out on their songwriting journey. The community support continues with an array of hand-selected food and drink vendors.
We’ll be there to enjoy the music, chat about all things songwriting, and will have a stash of books and other merch for sale. Please come and say hello, that is if you can tear yourself away from the music.
