The latest belter from Gallagher and his feathered friends is a ballad chiming with festive bells and “lah-lah-lah” backing vocals. Noel delivers his vocals high up into the night sky and there’s an infectious charm about the way he wears his heart on his sleeve. LM

HERE WE ARE
Self-release
With a combination of country styled lyrics and catchy pop melodies, this new single from the London-based Israeli-American duo has real potential. Think The Shires meets Lady Antebellum, with a dash of something you wouldn’t be surprised to hear from Take That. LK

TORGEIR WALDEMAR
LEAF IN THE WIND
Jansen Records
There’s something of a Celtic rock vibe about the lead single from the Norwegian troubadour’s new album. Even more noticeable is the track’s message of kindness and hope. “All you can do is do your best,” sings Waldemar and it’s hard not to feel moved by his earnest songwriting and delivery. DH

Blasting out of Detroit, the home of The White Stripes and The Dirtbombs, it’s evident that the power trio of Ava East, Kate Derringer and Kerrigan Pearce know exactly what’s expected from a Motor City outfit… sleek, raw and catchy garage rock. DH

MARCUS KING
THE WELL
Snakefarm Records
It’s no surprise that this devilish slice of bluesy Southern R&B was produced by Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys. But make no bones about it, King is very much the star here. Whether with his elastic guitar playing, or soulful voice, it’s impossible not to be blown away. LM
