Megan Davies: the Nashville singer-songwriter has released an acoustic version of her 2018 hit Gimme

This time we evangelise about the latest songs from Megan Davies, Selena Gomez, Gazel, Hey Colossus, Bollie and Lazy Day

MEGAN DAVIES
GIMME (ACOUSTIC)
Madlove Music

Nashville-based artist Megan Davies has released the gorgeous acoustic version of her 2018 hit and the results are mesmerising. With its lush guitar string and laid back vibe, it’s a major highlight from this fast-rising artist. Powerful lyrics and a sweet musical production give this the potential to become a hit all over again. LK

HEY COLOSSUS
MEMORY GORE
Alter Records

Taut, powerful and in complete control – this is Hey Colossus at their imperious best. Since forming in 2003 the heavy rock group have toured extensively. Memory Gore manages to capture some of their raw live energy and the production here brings an added depth, helping it to burst through our speakers. DH

SELENA GOMEZ, TAINY, J BALVIN, BENNY BLANCO
I CAN’T GET ENOUGH
NEON16/Friends Keep Secrets/Interscope Records

These Spanish/English tracks are taking the airwaves by storm at the moment and this latest one featuring four powerhouses of music is a real gem of the current trend. It has insanely catchy lyrics and a fantastic chorus that will get stuck in your head for days. Selena Gomez’s vocals are also sounding the best they have in years. This song is a real standout of 2019. LK

GAZEL
POINTING AT THE MOON (ACOUSTIC)
Self-release

By stripping her music back to its bare elements, British/Turkish songwriter Gazel has captured something powerful on this track. With a melody reminiscent of Kylie Minogue’s I Believe In You, the song’s strength is drawn from Gazel’s rich vocals and the transformative nature of her violin playing. DH

BOLLIE
CRUSH ON ME
Envision Records

The X Factor favourites Reggie N Bollie are currently taking a break in order to pursue their own musical paths for a little while and this first release from Bollie is a major highlight of the musical calendar. It brings together the pop and Afrobeats world perfectly and that ear-worm chorus will be stuck in your head for days and days. It’s a party anthem that will no doubt be on heavy rotation at clubs across the country in the coming months. LK

LAZY DAY
MUMMA
Weird Cool Records

Written both about and for her own mum, Tilly Scantlebury has captured their bond on this infectious indie track. Its leisurely start soon explodes into something euphoric, with the songwriter/frontwoman/producer proudly declaring, “Don’t be afraid/We look the same.” DH
